Gift Aid is a UK government scheme that lets a registered charity reclaim the basic rate tax you have already paid on your gift.
If you donate £100 and tick the Gift Aid box as a UK taxpayer, Love Mercy Hope receives an additional £25, making your gift £125. The £100 goes to the project you chose. The extra £25 may be spent on charitable programmes, or on the administration and operational costs that let us keep a 100% donation policy on your gift.
Who can Gift Aid
You must be a UK taxpayer, and you must have paid at least as much Income Tax or Capital Gains Tax in the tax year as all the charities you support will claim on your gifts. If you pay less, it is your responsibility to pay any difference.
What we need from you
Your full name, your house name or number, and your postcode, plus a declaration like the one below. HMRC needs the address details to accept a claim, so a declaration without them cannot be used.
I want Love Mercy Hope to claim Gift Aid on this donation and any donations I make in the future or have made in the past four years. I am a UK taxpayer and understand that if I pay less Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax than the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all my donations in that tax year it is my responsibility to pay any difference.
Bank transfers and standing orders
Gift Aid applies to these too. Email info@lovemercyandhope.com with your name, house number, postcode and the words of the declaration above, and we will apply it to your gifts.
Changed address, or stopped paying UK tax? Let us know at the same address so we stop claiming. See where your money goes for how Gift Aid covers our running costs.
